She got a picture of him and a signed autograph for herself. And one for me as well!!!!

It is not very big here lah but I have it. Well too bad I didn't get to physically see him in the flesh but oh well, a signed autograph is more than I could hope for. Thank you so much Anis!

I am sure a day will come when I get to see him in the flesh .....

My name is Khan

I watched the movie and enjoyed it. It was a much awaited movie for me as it has been a whole year since the King came out with a new movie and it was good. A very different kind of Hindi movie and didn't have the usual love sequels. It was also nice to see him acting along side Kajol. Always thought they worked well together.
A movie that takes viewers on a journey of love: Rizwan Khan's journey.Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) suufers from a kind of Autism, which makes him very different from other people. While some find him endearing, others think he is rude. He meets a single mom, Mandira (Kajol) and ...

Sounds like the usual plot but now. It was like a cross between Forrest Gump and Rain Man. It did have the expected elements of rain but no tree dancing and no train also. So that does not make it a regular Hindi movie rite!

And of course SRK is as good looking as ever, even in his 40s. Oh yes! Aishah was in New Delhi recently and she bought me the coffee table book ... SRK pages after pages of him. Ahhhhhh ......

Billu Barber

I finally watched Billu Barber last week. It was very colourful and oh so glorious! Surprisingly it was not a love story but a very heart warming story about friendship. And of course Shah Rukh Khan is sure to steal your heart away with his doting eyes and dimpled smile.

And he looks ever so cool in shades does he not!

Two childhood friends had lost touch with each other when one of them moved to Mumbai. The one who moved to Mumbai became a movie star (SRK lah) while the other, Billu, became a barber and a poor one at that. SRK decides to shoot his latest movie in Billu's town and word got out that Billu and SRK were good friends so chaos erupted in the village as everyone wanted to meet SRK. Billu was embarrased and insisted he did not want to meet SRK and even denied he knew SRK but the town didn't listen and they showered Billu with presents, gifts and praises. The town realised Billu was lying after awhile and made him an outcast again. Until SRK himself tells the story about friendship to students at a school in the town.

Go watch lah! Quite fun one ...

But I must admit that at 43, he does look his age lah. Time can be seen on his face. He has kept good care of himself, is still a looker with the killer smile. A more matured SRK. Is still and will always be the man!

Billu Barber ...When Lah!

I have not had the chance to watch it but am just dying too! I can give you a review of it from what I have read but then you can go and find websites yourself to do that. The thing is, it is only showing at Sunway Pyramid and Mid Valley and of course the show times are really odd.

I hope to be able to watch it on Friday night, or perhaps Thursday. Two of my girlfriends already said wait for the VCD lah and only my other die-hard fan, Miss Shuriana, is anxiously waiting for me to give her a date!
Billu tells the story of a simple ordinary man, Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irrfan Khan), living in a small town with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and two kids. His life undergoes a drastic change as superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) visits the village for a film shoot. Everything changes. Things go from good to bad to worse to good again.

SRK's track is equally fascinating and only spices up the proceedings. In fact, Priyadarshan has amalgamated the three songs (featuring SRK with Deepika, Priyanka and Kareena) in the narrative smartly. Not once do you feel that you're watching two stories concurrently. The best part of the enterprise is its climax. The superstar recalls his humble beginning and how his friend stood by him in times of crisis. The writing is brilliant and SRK only takes the scene to greater heights with his terrific portrayal.

Some people think this is the movie that he shot here in Malacca which rewarded him with the Datuk title. It is not lah! That was an older movie.
I can't wait to see it! Will tell you all about it then ...

Be There!

The King Khan, as his latest flick - ‘Billu Barber’ is expected to hit the theaters in the first quarter of 2009. A remake of the Malayalam film ‘Kadha Parayumbol’, this comic movie has been produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
In the movie, Irrfan Khan plays the title role of Billu Barber (present-day Sudama); Shahrukh will be seen as Sahil Khan (present-day Krishna). The movie revolves around the life of Billu Barber, his wife (Lara Dutta) and their two kids.
Billu is a village barber experiencing a slow down in his business, primarily because he fails to adapt to the changing fashion trends. It is during this time that a film unit comes to his village, with superstar Sahil Khan as the hero. Billu tells everyone in the village that Sahil is his old friend. Instantly, the villagers take a keen liking to Billu.
It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani as its main characters. The news is abuzz that Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone will also be seen in the movie, in guest appearances

Datukship and such

It was on the front page blurp on Saturday and since then his name has been on the tip of almost everyone's tongue. Yup, Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood, received a Datukship from Malacca. Why? Cause he shot some movie there in 2001 and since then Malacca has been blessed with so many tourists.

Yes, I like Shah Rukh Khan and I will try to argue this objectively (?????) So many people are asking why him and why he deserves it. For that matter, some argue that Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones as well as Jodie Foster should be given awards.

If I remember right, when Sean and Catherine shot Entrapment here, the then Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister Datuk Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir had complained that the movie showed the bad side of town, ie Petaling Street. Those scenes were not favourable and made the streets look dirty. The "hotel" they were staying at in those scenes were also not the 5 star ones but the rumah tumpangan types and they caused a stir. It was even debated in Parliament. Remember? So why do you want to give them a datukship since you didn't like the scenes they showed anyway???

As for Jodie Foster, what movie did she shoot here? I thought it was that King of Siam one which was shot in Thailand wasn't it? Forgive me if me memory fails me.
Now we have the local artistes creating a fuss. Upset I guess cause some of them haven't got a datukship yet. Well, what can I say? Maybe you haven't done enough for your country but then again, we can buy a datuk-ship now right. Some time ago, last year I think, some women my friends and I know got a datukship from Pahang. Every one of us asked why cause she hasn't done anything for the country. Hmmmmm....

So, let's see, what has SRK done for the country? He shot Don here and made Malaysia look great didn't he? Better than how it looked in Entrapment anyways. Which is why no Ministry complained. And Bollywood movies are watched everywhere in the world, it has a global audience. I don't think Mami Jarum 1 or 2 is watched in Norway! And neither is Cinta no matter how many local awards it has won and neither is some drama which is aired on Tv1 or Tv3 in Munich.

He is the King of Bollywood isnt't he? The highest paid (I think) Hindi actor and most popular in the world. He even has a model of himself at Madame Thusauds in London. I don't see them rushing to put Azean Indrawarty there or even Tan Sri P Ramlee. Which means Bollywood actors are bigger than Malaysian artistes. Maybe they should put Datuk Siti Nurhaliza there ... point to ponder. She already has a datukship so I guess that is not an issue rite!

Now, with all these in mind, what is wrong then with giving SRK a datukship? Big deal lah people, let it be lah. Besides we don't know pun how long the TYT of Malacca will be in power. If it makes him happy, biar lah. If you all so desperately want one, go and buy lah. Or rub shoulders and cheeks with some Minister like what that women friend did. Why don't we worry or squabble about more worldly issues like our friends and relatives in Singapore who may be out of a job soon due to the financial crisis or jump on the bandwagon and wonder who will be our next Prime Minister.

After all, these titles Datuk ke Tan Sri ke are only in this world. When you die, it doesn't mean anything to God.

Just to share with you Part II

As promised this is today's entree.

The last movie i watched was Om Shanti Om and oh my!!!!! SRK had beefed himself up for this part or so I read but I believe it considering how good he looked. I think I was looking at the screen with my mouth open. Even passed the CD around to friends cause it was really a sight not to be missed!

Chakde was the movie before Om Shanti Om and it was actually quite good. It had SRK in a non-conventional role meaning not the usual hero lover boy. It was quite refreshing, shows that he can be quite versatile.

From the official website: "Heard he will resume the shooting of Yashraj Films production Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in which he is paired with a new girl named Anushka Sharma . The movie’s shooting will take place in Yashraj Studios and in Punjab. If things go as planned, SRK will be committed to Aditya Chopra ’s film for two months, after which he will take out a few days for his brief but significant role in Red Chillies Entertainment’s Billoo Barber .And once he is through with his home production, SRK will fly to the US to shoot Karan Johar ’s film Khan in September. The film has SRK playing an American Muslim who becomes a terror suspect.Amid this busy schedule, SRK will also overlook the big-budged animation film to be made under his home banner. The movie, to be made by Anubhav Sinha , is said to be based on the mythological character of Ravana from Ramayana. The special effects and graphics of the film will be done by SRK’s own company, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for SFX."

Which means I have something to look forward to end of the year and 2009!

The King

This is what dreams are made of.....

Had the chance to meet him when he came here to promote Don but I was expecting Ali (my no 3) and was going through this terrible bout of sickness throughout the day so had to skip it. Regret it to this day.

And my screen saver throughout the pregnancy was pictures of SRK (The King....)

Does my son look like SRK??? I dunno, you judge for yourself...hehehehe
